Are you also confronting distractions while studying? If yes, then explore this article to learn some tricks to prevent them…
Hey there! Don't ever think that you are the only one who faces difficulties while studying. Some students don't even get to enjoy their basic requirements for life but still make it to an ideal life.
No one can guarantee what future you hold but you. So, have a disciplined student's life and get ready to reach your goals.
When it comes to distractions, there are lots and lots of things that can cause it. In this article, I have tried to sync some of the useful ways to avoid distractions. And they are…
Adaptive environment
Try to avoid sitting in a comfortable position. It will make you sleepy and affect your concentration. According to research, our mind works with an efficiency of 40% from 4-6 am, 20% from 12-4 pm, and 10% at night. Thus, it is advised to do all the learning work and all the work which requires in-depth attention should be done in the morning.
So, make a schedule to manage your time based on your study hours, sleep time, the time required for leisure activities, etc…
While studying, sip some water every hour to freshen your mind. Follow the 50:10 technique, 50 minutes study, then 10 minutes rest. It will help you to maintain the enthusiasm required for learning. Otherwise, you will feel bored until and unless you are a prodigy.
I will advise you not to consume any addictive food or drink like coffee which contains caffeine. Some people drink coffee so as not to fall asleep. It is useful in some way but it may lead to problems in sleeping if not taken in a prescribed manner.
Make a study plan
A study plan is a pre-listing of what you are going to study in the coming hours, days, or weeks. Based on it, the study plan can be daily, weekly, or monthly. You know what, everyone can make a study plan, the difference is how you are gonna stick to it.
It is like a to-do list for a day. If I have written that I will complete this topic from this subject. Then, I will. This is the determination you need to complete your study plan. Procrastination also comes under this category. There must be no way for procrastination to affect your studies in any way. Only then, you will have a satisfactory smile on your face the very next day.
Follow priority matrix
Make a 2×2 matrix for all of your works based on their priorities. The matrix looks like…
The matrix is clear in itself. Put all the urgent as well as important works in A11, all the urgent but not important works in A12, all the important but not urgent works in A21, and all the unimportant and non-urgent works in A22.
First, complete all the urgent as well as important works. This category includes those works which are important and have a deadline to submit them, such as, assignments from school, preparing for exams, etc. Then, go for all the urgent works that are not important. After that, do the works which are important but not that urgent. Lastly comes the works which are neither important nor urgent, such as, a call from a friend or relative, etc.
I can understand that nowadays, it is very difficult to isolate yourself from social media. But you can make a limited time frame for that. Like once in a day or twice a day, I will check all the emails and updates on social media platforms to be up to date with the news headlines and trends. And remember, it is neither urgent nor that much important.
Exercise and introspect
Along with studies, your health is very precious. Suppose you are well prepared for your exams but on the day of your exam, you fall ill. Then, what? What will you do? All the efforts and hard work will go in vain. So, stay fit as well as focused.
I am talking about both physical and mental health. For physical health, you need to consume a balanced diet. Do some exercise at your convenience. For mental health, I will suggest you meditate for at least 10 minutes a day.
Practicing and maintaining a healthy and disciplined lifestyle is the first step towards your goals. So...All the very best for this!
Review your progress
Even if you are following all these mentioned ways, it may be possible that you are not getting the required results. So, reviewing your past schedules is the best way to analyze what is better suited for you.
Thus, take records of what you have gained for this and what you have gained for that. The idea is that no one other than yourself can tell you where the problem is in your way of studying that you are not satisfied with your learning outcomes or scores.
If you are still facing problems, try to make a schedule that you can follow with less but fruitful outcomes. Slowly, adapt to it and then, take a step further.
Conclusion
Hope you will follow all these mentioned tactics to stay focused while studying. All the best for your renewed study plan!
